LaRue has gained accolades internationally across both scripted and unscripted content. MY DEAD DAD’S PORNO TAPES, directed by Charlie Tyrell, was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject in 2019, while winning the SXSW Grand Jury Award, a Canadian Screen Award, a Webby, and a nomination for the Sundance Grand Jury Prize for Short Film. THE AMAZING GAYL PILE (CBC/NBC-Universal), created by Morgan Waters & Brooks Gray, was nominated at the International Emmys in 2017 for Best Short-Form Series while also gaining numerous Canadian Screen Award wins and nominations across its five-season run. The company also has numerous other Canadian Screen Award wins and nominations for various projects including TRUE DATING STORIES (CBC/Fuse) and BIT PLAYAS (CBC/FUSE). In 2023, LaRue released the first ever Crave Original sketch comedy series called THE DESSERT (6 x 1/2 hour), Executive Produced by Bruce McCulloch (Kids in the Hall) and Arkells’ Max Kerman. Feature-length documentary SOMEONE LIVES HERE premiered at the Hot Docs Film Festival 2023 to sold out screenings, winning the prestigious Rogers Audience Choice Award and the Bill Nemtin Award for Social Impact. It has also won Best Canadian Documentary at Vancouver International Film Festival and was named to the 2023 TIFF Top Ten.

    Matt is an award-winning producer who got his start at Kenny Vs. Spenny before founding LaRue in 2008. Most known for championing projects from some of the most exciting comedic voices in the Canadian comedy space, notable mentions of his on LaRue’s slate of content include Emmy-nominated The Amazing Gayl Pile (CBC/Seeso, executive produced by Paul Scheer and featured a guest appearance by Jon Hamm) as well as CSA-winning Bit Playas. His docs include SXSW-winning My Dead Dad’s Porno Tapes, as well as I Thought I Told You to Shut Up which featured several household names including Matt Groening creator of The Simpsons. He also produced Filth City (Canal+/Hollywood Suite) with his brother, director Andy King, a satire based on the rise and fall of Rob Ford. It made headlines and gained over 50+ awards and nominations. Feature-length documentary “Someone Lives Here” has become one of the most decorated Canadian feature docs of 2023. His projects have otherwise premiered at Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca, and TIFF, among others. Under LaRue, Matt is driven to produce the next wave of the most iconic original content for audiences around the world.

    Starting out on the hit Canadian comedy series Kenny vs. Spenny and then at eOne across production and development, Andrew transitioned to the digital space producing and directing digital content for MTV’s teen drama Skins. He joined forces with lifelong friend Matt King to build and launch LaRue in 2010. Under the LaRue banner, Andrew has produced award-winning projects Someone Lives Here (TIFF Top Ten), Amazing Gayl Pile (CBC/Seeso), True Dating Stories (CBC), Filth City (Studio+), CSA-winning She Stoops to Conquer and the Oscar shortlisted My Dead Dad’s Porno Tapes, to name a few. Having sold and developed several shows to Bell Media, Rogers, and CBC, he takes great pride in his collaborative relationships with the creators he work with. With an exciting slate of projects on the go, Andrew is driven by the creation and sustainability of compelling, premium stories domestically and beyond.

    Jay (they/them) leads development at LaRue, building out our slate of series and features. They work with the most exciting talent, ranging from emerging to established, to package projects that are highly entertaining and market-ready, featuring bold, uniquely memorable voices. From 2021 to 2023, Jay was a development executive at Bell Media, developing original scripted comedy & drama series for both streamer Crave and network CTV, covering a slate of 15-20 projects. There, they developed Sullivan’s Crossing (CTV's #1 hit drama for 2023) and The Spencer Sisters, which both premiered on The CW in the US in the same year. While at Bell, Jay also spearheaded the first-ever BIPOC-only cohort at the Canadian Film Centre's Primetime TV Program and the Vancouver Asian Film Festival Series Development Incubator. As a writer/director, their work has screened at festivals including Inside Out Toronto, Asian CineVision, Vancouver Asian Film Festival, Wicked Queer Boston, Image+Nation Montreal, and North Carolina Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. Their new feature film, Yo We're Dying, was selected for Telefilm's prestigious feature program Talent to Watch 2023 in partnership with co-director/writer Keisha Phoenixx and producer Fonna Seidu (Snail Mail Media). Their most recent short film Toe the Line (2021) was also nominated for a Golden Sheaf for Scripted Short at Yorkton Film Festival 2022.

    Lewis Spring is an award-winning producer and line producer with over ten years of experience, who champions emerging content and creators with bold creative visions. Recent line-producing credits include award-winning digital series True Dating Stories (LaRue/CBC Gem), Crave’s first ever sketch comedy series The Dessert, and a Canadian Heritage Minute spotlighting Jackie Shane, a black, trans pioneer soul singer in 1960s Toronto. As a producer, his short film Bait and Switch screened at numerous international and Oscar-qualifying film festivals, winning best International Short at the LA Comedy Festival. His other shorts have screened around the world and been nominated for multiple awards including Best Picture at the Hollywood North Film Awards. He is currently producing a feature directed by Vivieno Caldinelli (Baroness Von Sketch Show, Seven Stages) and starring Kids in the Hall’s Mark McKinney. His commercial producing work includes jobs for Cineplex Entertainment, Crave Frozen Meals, Tilda Rice, and many others. With a passion for comedy, horror, and sci-fi, Lewis is driven by unique and compelling voices, that take risks in an effort to find a loyal audience.

    Anne joined LaRue in 2020 bringing nearly two decades of experience specializing in accounting. She has played an integral role on accounting teams at companies like eOne, Deluxe, and MLSE to name a few.
